Overview

Based in Long Beach, CA, The SCAN Foundation partnered with NMCO to help debut a powerful new initiative at their 2024 United for Health Equity in Aging Summit. The video introduced the People-Centered Communications Collective (PC3), a groundbreaking group formed to amplify community voices and drive equity in health communication.

Powered by five visionary women of color led agencies, PC3 brings together diverse communications and community engagement professionals with a shared mission: to foster trust and elevate the voices of historically marginalized populations, including people of color, low-income communities, and those in geographically underserved areas.

Through thoughtful storytelling and visual narrative, the video highlights PC3’s formation, purpose, and far-reaching impact. It underscores their unwavering commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, celebrating the collective’s role in reshaping how organizations engage with and support communities across the nation.

Concept & Approach

NMCO collaborated closely with The SCAN Foundation team and members of PC3, beginning with a digital video treatment crafted from their brief. This initial step ensured we were aligned both visually and conceptually from the start. Once the treatment was approved, we moved into pre-production, developing interview questions, selecting key locations in downtown Long Beach, and building detailed shot lists.

With a tight timeline and a single-day shoot, precision was everything. Our video team traveled to Long Beach, where coordination was key: PC3 members were coming in from cities like Los Angeles and as far as Arizona. Every minute of the day was maximized. NMCO filmed at five distinct locations to highlight each member’s unique personality, conducted five individual interviews, and captured a rich variety of B-roll to bring the story to life.

Post Production

Back in New Mexico, our team jumped straight into editing to meet the deadline for The SCAN Foundation’s Summit. We enhanced the final video with motion graphics to visualize key data, layered in voiceovers and music, and collaborated with the client through several rounds of feedback.

The end result: a powerful video that highlights PC3’s dedication to diversity, equity, and inclusion, while showcasing their impactful community outreach and trust-building efforts. It made a strong impression at the Summit and was met with great reception.

PC3 currently consists of representatives from Nuna Consulting, Nakatomi PR, Tina Pinedo, LAGRANT communications and VPE Communications
